
Scottie Scheffler Widens Gap Atop U.S. Rankings with Record-Setting Win at CJ Cup Byron Nelson
Scottie Scheffler shot 31-under to pick up his first win of the 2025 season in record-setting fashion, claiming The CJ Cup Byron Nelson by eight shots while widening the gap atop the U.S. Team Rankings.
Scheffler shot 66 or better in all four rounds of his hometown event to earn 1,782 U.S. Ryder Cup points. The two-time Ryder Cup selection sits atop the rankings with 16,360.75 points. Xander Schauffle (11,133.11), Collin Morikawa (8,585.60), Bryson DeChambeau (8,190), Russell. Henley (7,824.20) and Justin Thomas (7,582.83) round out the top 6.
The top six eligible players from the U.S. Ryder Cup Points list following the BMW Championship on August 17, 2025 will make the team. Captain Keegan Bradley will have six Captain’s picks which will be announced in August following the 2025 Tour Championship.
Sam Stevens and Jordan Spieth were the two biggest movers on the U.S. Team Rankings list, moving up 11 and seven spots, respectively. Spieth, who has appeared in five Ryder Cups, shot a blistering final-round 62 to finish fourth at 19-under, while Stevens was seven-under in the final round and finished third at 20-under.
The United States team continues to take shape as the Red, White & Blue look ahead to the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Major points will be on the line in just a week as the PGA Championship takes center stage at Quail Hollow. Players who make the cut will earn 1.5 points per $1,000 earned.
